21 December 2022 – Brighton, UK –Integrity Music announces the launch of Songs From The Soil, a new collective of UK songwriters and worship leaders seeking to reignite the UK Church’s songbook by creating fertile spaces where new songs of worship might grow.
Songs From The Soil will release'Fighting For My Heart', their debut single led by Philippa Hanna and Noel Robinson, on 13th January 2023. The new song was originally written by KXC's Rich di Castiglione and LA-based songwriter Jordan Frye for those wrestling with issues of self-hatred and self-harm, although it has become an anthem of hope to many others too. 'Fighting For My Heart' is based on the closing verses in Romans 8, exhorting God’s people and celebrating how nothing can separate us from the love of God - not even our own brokenness. In the chorus, echoes of Psalms 139 and 23 highlight the liturgical thread running through 'Fighting For My Heart'.
"We pray that this song can become an anthem of hope and a song of deliverance for all who have no hope left for themselves," says Rich di Castiglione.
'Fighting For My Heart' will begin unveiling the stripped-back, communal, and deeply honest feel that captures what Songs From The Soil is all about.
About Songs From The Soil
Songs From The Soil exists to reignite the UK Church’s songbook by creating fertile spaces where new songs of worship might grow. We seek to gather and inspire songwriters and worship leaders from all over the UK, to craft songs infused with the flavour of their local context, capturing a return to the land in our melodies and sung theology.
Over the years, we have had the privilege of singing timeless classics from the saints of old; hymns both ancient and modern. In recent years, we have also been blessed with the the multifaceted wisdom and creativity of the global church, however, it seems we have lost the taste for the homegrown worship song. Songs From The Soil desires to inspire the UK Church to give space to what God is doing in the local as well as the global.
Like a garden, we are going to need patience and diligence for these new songs to grow, but we aren’t in a rush. We commit to taking on the unforced rhythms of grace that marked out the life of Jesus, recognizing that where we can be patient, we can be healthy.
Join us in cultivating a garden of songs from and for the local Church! Now is the time to nurture a new vibrant hymnal to the Lord, a hymnal of songs rooted in a particular place, and a particular time.
