Short clips ran on their social pages stirring up excitement from fans, and building anticipation for the release of the entire conversation.
On Friday, May 5th, Lecrae and Tasha Cobbs Leonard surprised everyone with the release of their new single, “Your Power,” a song that perfectly weaves their extraordinary talents and dynamic lyrics with a rich gospel-infused sound. The uplifting and inspirational song marks the first time these two iconic artists have recorded music together. “We’ve both had complex experiences in this industry. It was time to collaborate on a deep-rooted conversation about our stories and perspectives as established artists,” shared Lecrae on his Instagram account. Tasha responded adding, “This conversation was much needed!”
"Your Power," promises to be a genuinely transformative listening experience that will encourage people to lean into God for his grace, strength, and power daily, especially in their darkest hour. The two are confident that their powerful conversation about mental health & the state of Christian Music, coupled with the soul-stirring new song, "Your Power," will strike a chord with audiences and bring together people of all backgrounds in a celebration of music and faith.
"We are just two artists coming together to make beautiful music and share a message of hope and encouragement," says Lecrae. "We believe that music has the power to inspire people, and we want to use our platforms to create messages of change, love, and unity." The new single & conversation between Lecrae and Tasha Cobbs was released in time for May Mental Health Awareness Month to create dialogue around depression, therapy, and the pressure they’ve felt to be ideal role models. They also chatted about the controversial collaborations and how the backlash impacted them. Tasha was criticized for her single, “I’m Getting Ready,” ft. Nicki Minaj while Lecrae was blasted for his “Blessings” single ft. Ty Dolla $ign.
