October 27, 2023 - Nashville, TENN. - Many adjectives have been used to describe Chase Tremaine’s burgeoning career: prolific, genre-bending, thought-provoking, honest. But no single descriptor can adequately explain the breadth or the generosity of his latest release: Accidental Days (Deluxe Edition), a two-hour deep dive into Tremaine’s history, psyche, musical range, and emotional transparency. For an artist who’s known for pouring all his personal resources into his music, only to turn around and give that music away for free, there’s only one explanation for a project as expansive as this: an unyielding creative conviction. As Tremaine explains it, “I know that my prolific output makes a high demand on my listeners’ time, and I do my best to ensure my music is worth their time. But I disagree with the adage that ‘time is money.’ I think time is worth more than money, which is why I don’t also ask for their money. Your time is your most valuable asset - how could I ask for more than that?”

According to Tremaine, the expanded version of his third studio album has been planned out since before it was recorded. The thirty-track collection contains full-length commentary tracks for each of the original ten songs featured on Accidental Days (which released on March 10, 2023). Additionally, it boasts ten bonus tracks, six of which are new, never-before-heard songs. Most notably, the new songs include “After Love,” a collaboration between Tremaine and singer-songwriter Benjamin Daniel, who has likewise released three albums to great acclaim (such as 2021’s Shelterheart, which appeared on many music publication year-end lists, including the #1 spot on Jesus Freak Hideout). The fruit of their teamwork represents a new high water mark for both of their careers, with the song’s biting lyrics, undeniably catchy chorus, urgent dynamics, and inventive musicality.
Also included among the new songs are Tremaine’s adaptations of “Psalm 75” and “Psalm 90,” which take the album’s well-established themes (time, trust, aging) and grounds them in the wisdom literature of Scripture, set atop some of Tremaine’s most musically adventurous compositions to date. The other four bonus tracks include demos for “One Day” and “Gloriously Mundane,” an acoustic version of “The Checklist” with an alternate set of lyrics, and “Settled in the Unsettled (Theo’s Version),” which thoroughly reimagines the tune through a country music lens, performed by bluegrass musician Theo MacMillan (who provided the piano solo on the official version of “Settled”). Altogether, the bonus tracks create a vast and rich history of these songs - all the more so when combined with the commentary tracks - while also displaying how malleable Tremaine’s songwriting is across different genres and arrangements.
Accidental Days (Deluxe Edition) hits streaming services everywhere on October 27, 2023. On Bandcamp, the standard edition is for sale on CD, and all three versions of the album (standard, instrumental, and deluxe) can be downloaded for free or pay-what-you-want. The standard album was produced and mixed by Brendan St. Gelais and mastered by Sean Power (The Hilson Studio). The bonus tracks were produced, mixed, and mastered by Sean Power, and the commentary tracks were produced by Chase Tremaine.
