Detroit, MI - “He said to them, ‘It is not for you to know times or periods that the Father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.’” [Acts 1:7-8]
They say there is no better time than the present. The past is gone and the future is not a guarantee. A new year brings a new opportunity to set the tone. What will it be? Are we going to remain status quo or are we going to realize our purpose and Set It Off?
“This song will set the tone for the rest of my upcoming EP. I wanted it to have all of the elements the project will have. Dope beats and strategic lyrics that address real issues in the culture.” - Rich Colón
Rich Colón has hit the ground running since returning to the faith-based hip-hop scene.
In addition to releasing his first solo single (UNDO.) for indie imprint Polished Arrow Music, Rich has also debuted as one-half of the duo known as BASECAMP. With the calendar turning to 2024, the Detroit emcee is setting his eyes on the release of a new solo project.
Set It Off, released to streaming platforms on January 2, 2024, is the tone-setter for Colón’s coming EP.
The single features Christian rap veteran Kaboose along with bone-shaking production from the ultra-talented Chrys Jones. Set It Off is more than another boom-bap record, it is gritty hip-hop that breaks barriers and penetrates the very soul of the listener.
It is time to get busy, so Set It Off. Make sure to add the record to your 2024 favorites playlist!

Rich Colón is an emcee who values the art of being an emcee. His formula is simple - dope beats and well-crafted lyrics that pull no punches. While Rich’s delivery is reminiscent of hip-hop’s sharpest, like Black Thought, Big Pun, Nas, or Vinnie Paz, his content is infused with a deeper spiritual dialogue that pulls influences from thinkers like C.S. Lewis and Justo Gonzalez.
