Mike Ponder and Joe Kelly, President of CDX Records

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (February 26, 2024) - Recording artist Mike Ponder has signed with CDX Records.

Ponder hails from North Carolina and brings influences of classic and modern country, beach, funk, Motown, and Southern rock to his music. Ponder’s love for music has always been a driving force in his life. His start in music was playing drums in his parent’s family band at churches, festivals, and opening shows for the likes of “Little” Jimmy Dickens, The Kendall’s, Kitty Wells and Archie Campbell. At age 18, he joined the military where he served in the Navy and Marines and performed in the Naval Choir and was a Fleet Marine Force Corpsman. During this time of his service to our country, Ponder received two Presidential Awards, numerous Navy Achievement Medals, and Marine Corps Commendation awards. After sustaining injuries in the military, he was forced to retire. He later formed his own band, Steel Rail Express. Ponder has opened for acts like Confederate Railroad, Josh Turner, Kansas, Hal Ketchum, Mark Wills, Canaan Smith, Aaron Lewis and many more.
 
Ponder currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee. He is involved in his community and is the Director of the Nashville Chapter of Wish for Our Heroes which grants wishes of basic needs to active duty, veterans and first responders. Clinically deaf and blind in one eye, Ponder graduated The Apprenticeship Academy for Audio Engineer and Music Production under the instruction of 28-time Grammy award winner Joe West.
 
Ponder is also an alumni member of Zac Brown's Camp Southern Ground, where he completed the CSG Warrior Wellbeing Program and has volunteered with the program as well. His life motto is also his music motto, "Do good, Feel good, Repeat." These words are beautifully designed and are words Ponder truly lives by.
