Former Original Newsboys Member, John James, Launches Campaign to Fund New Music!

In the 1990's, John James was well-known for being the frontman of the hit-making Australian pop rock band Newsboys. Although he was quietly dismissed from the band in the late 90's due to a drug addiction, James has gone public about his problem and redemption from it in the years since.

John James hasn't sung in roughly 25 years, but the Aussie is feeling the calling back to the mic and has launched a GoFundMe campaign to help get a new musical project made.

On his GoFundMe campaign page, James writes:

"Dear Friends,

As you know, for more than 25 years I have not sung since leaving the Newsboys, and that area of my life was truly dead. Many of you know my testimony of God’s incredible grace and His restoration in my life, but unfortunately for so many years I truly said and believed that I could never sing again. To be honest with you all, that area was such a stronghold that the enemy used to keep me silent with the gift that God had given for me to sing for His glory.
 
Five months ago, if you had told me that I would be writing this letter, I would have told you you’re crazy. Since January, God once again has breathed life into the musical gifting on my life, and for me it is as if I’m like Lazarus. That he has called me back from the dead.
 
I have been passionately writing, I believe inspired by the Lord, from the moment I wake up, until the time I go to bed, and I have written an entire album that is ready to be recorded. I truly believe that He has given me something to say and something to sing, and that through the music once again, many will be reached for the Kingdom of God.
 
We will be headed into the studio to start recording in about two weeks and I am humbly reaching out to all of you to prayerfully consider sowing a financial gift, and to be part of this incredible miracle that God is calling me to do.
 
We estimate the cost from start to finish for the album to be between $20,000-$25,000.
 
Regardless of your response, I want you all to know that Tanya and I are so thankful for you all, we love you and are grateful for our friendship and greatly value your prayers through this miracle new season.
