Metalcore heavy-hitters Convictions have released their latest album The Fear of God, securing the #1 spot on the iTunes metal chart. The album is available everywhere at https://bfan.link/the-fear-of-god-1.
“The album delves into personal and societal issues, from inner turmoil and loss to spiritual awakening and the quest for salvation,” Convictions singer and primary songwriter Michael Felker explains. “This album is our most personal and introspective work to date. It’s about facing the darkest parts of ourselves and finding the light on the other side.”
Fans have already had a chance to respond to that brutal introspections on songs like “Buried In Thorns,” “Hurts Like Hell,” “Four Horses” and “Sleeping Lotus.” Addressing everything from domestic violence to grieving the loss of a parent, Fear of God frames our personal apocalypses within the broader global story of earth-shaking events — and the way they reveal God’s power.
“A lot of it points to a spiritual awakening, which lends to the title The Fear of God,” Felker reveals. “God’s bigger than the turmoil, the pain, our wayward faith. It’s about having respect for God as bigger than where we are at.”
The album was born into the band’s life through the fire of lineup changes and spiritual attacks. That refinery produced brutal riffs to back the razor edge of vocals that cut to the emotional quick.
In conclusion, Felker says, “It’s a cathartic journey through darkness and despair towards hope and spiritual renewal.”
