NASHVILLE, Tenn. (August 16, 2024) - Husband and wife duo Alabaster Grace releases their new single, "Friendship," today, Friday, August 16, 2024.
Brad Perry, a highly decorated former NASA rocket scientist, and his wife, Joanie Perry, a long-time educator—together known as Alabaster Grace—wrote the upbeat song with a country/pop style and a catchy chorus especially for their littlest listeners.
The duo was tapped by international speaker and children’s book author Jeff Patnaude to write and perform the theme song for his upcoming online children’s show, KiDS, in development with the Wingspan Foundation.
“The song, ‘Friendship,’ created by Joanie and Brad Perry, does what friends do for each other— it makes your insides GLOW. Thank you for your brilliant work and the love that comes from being friends with you.’” says Patnaude.
Created for children ages 4-11, KiDS teaches spiritual values and biblical parables through storytelling, puppets, animation, and original music. The show emphasizes the importance of kindness, sharing, learning and loving thy neighbor as thy self.
"We were asked to write a song for the show, which emphasizes the importance of friendship," says Brad Perry, Alabaster Grace's guitarist and arranger. "In writing 'Friendship,' we recalled the special friendships of our youth and how these friendships blessed us growing up and as adults.”
"This song feels like a 'full-circle moment' for me," says Joanie Perry, Alabaster Grace's lead vocalist and primary songwriter. "I was a public school music teacher and librarian for most of my career, and seeing children excel in their God-given gifts and talents has always been a passion of mine."
Alabaster Grace's new single follows on the heels of their recent performances as the featured guest artist at the 103rd Virginia State Gideons Convention in Harrisonburg, Virginia, where they shared songs from their new four-song EP, Our God is Faithful.

About Alabaster Grace:
Brad Perry, a highly decorated former NASA rocket scientist, and his wife, Joanie Perry, a long-time educator, are known professionally as Alabaster Grace.
Joanie, Alabaster Grace's primary songwriter, served for many years in the Virginia school system as a teacher and librarian.
Brad, now the associate pastor of Historic White Marsh Church in Lancaster, Virginia, has spent much of his career at NASA, where he was the Director of NASA's Science Support Office, a member of the design team of the International Space Station, and served as an astronaut instructor for the Space Shuttle. His exceptional work earned him two of NASA's highest honor—the Exceptional Service Medal and the Outstanding Leadership Medal.
Long before this pair of licensed ministers met in 2012 and started their musical ministry as Alabaster Grace, Brad and Joanie each learned to cling to God’s promises. Especially dear to them is Romans 8:28 — We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28 NRSV).
Their unique backgrounds have contributed to a diverse and eclectic approach to their music. Regardless of the style or topic of each individual song, Alabaster Grace hopes to be a beacon of light to music lovers, pointing them to Jesus.
Based in Irvington, Virginia, Alabaster Grace is dedicated to presenting the message of Christ through music, as well as the spoken and written word, to a world that is need of hope and encouragement. Brad and Joanie Perry continue to lead worship, perform at concerts, and share inspirational messages at church retreats, coffee houses, and conferences, ministering to thousands across the globe.
