HOUSTON, Texas (August 30, 2024) – Singer/songwriter and Texas-based steel industry executive Chris Whittington has released the digital version of his new EP, REALITORIUM, today, August 30, 2024.
Listeners can find REALITORIUM on Spotify, Apple, Amazon, Tidal, YouTube, and other popular streaming platforms, or click here.
REALITORIUM, the follow-up to Whittington's debut project, BRIGHT PORTAL, has been described as a revival rhythm for the soul. It’s a deep dive into all things rock n roll, spiritually reflective, and theology-driven. Listeners will find a collection of tunes with the essence of worship and praise, backed by a solid tradition of musicianship, crafted by a stellar host of Christian music industry icons.
Whittington defines “realitorium” as the arena of the created cosmos, the universe itself, which is there mediating God’s glory, His existence, creatorship, and rule.
On the new project, Whittington has teamed up with producer Kemper Crabb, along with award-winning musicians Phil Keaggy and Fletch Wiley, to create a collection of songs that reflect upon everyday themes in tunes such as “Portal,” "Don't Pass Me By," "Nehushtan," and "Live Forever, O King."
Standouts on the project include the first single, “Psalm 139,” Whittington's personal reflection on the much-loved Psalm, which is delivered with the heartfelt worship of the 70’s singer-songwriter tradition. The second single, "Light," is a rock 'n' roll anthem mixed with the great feel of your favorite Friday night marching band. With Keaggy's soaring, masterful guitars and an addictive, high-energy horn section, the song pulses forth the truth of a life redeemed.
"In the years between writing the songs and beginning the recording process tor REALITORIUM, I was often encouraged by the lengthy trials and tribulations of Moses, Joseph, and Jacob," says Whittington. "God required each of them to wait, keep working, and, most importantly, that they trust Him to turn their obedience into works which glorify Him. My prayer is that the listener of these songs will be encouraged to seek out God as they never have before, to know Him through His word, increasing their faith in Him."
REALITORIUM is built upon Whittington’s own foundation of faith. From an early age, he had an overwhelming desire to worship God through music. As a teen, he played guitar at Bible study and led others in worship. Today, he continues to balance a more-than-full time career in the steel industry with his love for melody, harmony, and instrumentation.
Whether it is through his successful business practices at Whittington Steel, the thriving company he owns and operates in Houston, Texas, or in his poignant song lyrics, Whittington’s life is devoted to sharing meaningful stories that touch hearts and change lives.
Whether he is reflecting on his calling in the commercial marketplace, or his greatest loves of the church and music, Whittington understands how both have equally shaped his own life and impacted those around him, including his family, friends, and the local community, while his music continues to reach people across the globe.
