New York, NY – 25th October 2025 – JOHNNYSWIM, composed of the magnetic duo Abner Ramirez and Amanda Sudano Ramirez, release their latest single “Monte Carlo” today, listen HERE. Written by their good friend and frequent collaborator Britten Newbill (John LegendOlivia DeanTori Kelly), the acoustic-tinged song serves as an emotional release, capturing the feeling of letting go – one of the central themes of their upcoming album When The War Is Over. The LP is set for release on February 7th and was inspired by a transformative period in their lives.

“This upcoming album is personal. Many of the songs are about the real, gritty parts of life—the moments that stretch you, push you, and make you grow, but we knew we needed a moment of release—a song that felt like exhaling. Right on time, our friend Britten Newbill sent us this song he’d written. He said it reminded him of us, and before long, it became the song we were singing around the house. It gave us the relief we’d been looking for. It’s that moment of driving with the windows down, where you let the wind carry away whatever’s been weighing on you. A simple reminder to let go.” – Abner & Amanda, JOHNNYSWIM

“Monte Carlo” follows last month’s “Los Feliz,” a joyful and uplifting song born out of one of the band’s “Songs With Strangers” podcast episodes and a co-write with Newbill. In August JOHNNYSWIM released “She Checks The Weather,” which Amanda wrote following her personal struggles with long COVID. “Frank Gehry,” another album track, cautions the listener to resist the urge to measure themselves against others. It was released in July and featured in a CBS Morningssegment. The show visited Abner and Amanda in their home in LA to discuss their lives, love, and family as well as their journey as songwriters and musicians.

When The War Is Over marks a new chapter for JOHNNYSWIM, recorded with almost entirely live instruments in the studio. As Abner, who produced the album, likes to say “every instrument has eyeballs.” In addition, to enjoying the sonic shift the new LP brings, fans will get to hear Grammy nominated Houston rapper Tobe Nwigwe on one of the album’s focus tracks “Dopamine” and “I’m Alright” features Abner reflecting on his personal journey and his family’s experience of leaving Cuba. This poignant song is followed by a cover of “Cuando Salí de Cuba” – a 1967 song by Cuban artist Luis Aguilé and a tribute to many Cubans forced to leave their homeland during political upheaval.

“Monte Carlo” is out now, listen HERE, and JOHNNYSWIM has already announced a big Spring US headline tour as well as numerous Christmas shows in December and they just announced London and Amsterdam shows (their first in 7 years!), all confirmed dates are below.
