JACKSONVILLE, FL -- January 24, 2025 - Americana singer-songwriter Ken Holt is thrilled to announce the release of his new album, Shades of Light (MTS/Virgin/Universal), available on digital platforms and vinyl starting January 24th. This deeply personal record reflects Ken's journey through decades of musical exploration, weaving together threads of country, rock ‘n’ roll, bluegrass, and classic pop into a sound that is uniquely his own.
Born to a U.S. Marine family and raised across seven states before settling in Jacksonville, Florida, Ken Holt's rich tapestry of influences includes the gospel-laden mandolin melodies of his Uncle Henry, the legendary guitar work of Duane Allman and Dickey Betts, the songwriting mastery of Lennon and McCartney, and his father’s timeless Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings collection. These inspirations shine throughout Shades of Light, an 11-track album that evokes nostalgia, longing, joy, and hope.
Produced by Holt and recorded at Little Man Studio in Satellite Beach, FL, Shades of Light showcases his signature blend of heartfelt lyrics and meticulous arrangements. Contributors include seasoned artists like Pat Bautz and Howard Laravea (Three Dog Night), violinist Kricket Moros, and mandolinist Frank Sanzone, among others.
A Lifelong Musical Journey
Ken’s career began in the mid-1970s and 1980s as bassist for The Blend, a regionally successful New England band signed to MCA Records. During that time, Ken toured extensively, opening for iconic acts such as The Who, ZZ Top, Hall & Oates, and more. After decades of writing, performing, and ministering as a Pastor and Youth Minister in the Presbyterian Church, Ken remains committed to creating music that inspires and connects.
“This album reflects where I’ve been and where I hope to go,” Ken says. “It’s a culmination of everything I’ve experienced—faith, family, and the power of music to bring people together.”
The Promise and What Lies Ahead
Ken currently performs as part of the duo The Promise, whose debut at the 2024 Florida Americana Music Festival received rave reviews. Looking ahead, he plans to expand his reach with future recordings and performances while continuing to share music that resonates with listeners from all walks of life.
