SATELLITE BEACH, FL – April 3, 2025 – Americana singer-songwriter Ken Holt is set to release his emotionally resonant new single, “I Did Not Know,” on April 18th, 2025. This intimate and reflective track continues Holt’s lifelong pursuit of authentic storytelling through music, blending heartfelt lyrics with his signature mix of country, rock ‘n’ roll, bluegrass, and classic pop.
Written by Ken Holt and longtime collaborator Howard Laravea, and featuring additional vocals by Mary Kate Brennan, “I Did Not Know” explores the bittersweet realization that often comes with hindsight:
“If I had known then what I know now, it would be a whole different than the way it is now.” In other words, Ken shares, “I may not have gotten it right the first time around, but I’m at least a little smarter and wiser now. Things are gonna be different—and better—from here on out.”
Played and sung with an easy Americana groove, “I Did Not Know” is like your favorite blanket in the winter and a cool dip in summer—warm, refreshing, and timeless. It’s the kind of song that instantly feels like home.
Following the success of his January 2025 full-length album Shades of Light, and first single, “Shine,” this new single offers fans a fresh glimpse into Ken’s ever-evolving creative spirit. With themes of regret, growth, and personal transformation, the song captures a deeply human experience—those moments when hindsight brings clarity we didn’t have in the moment.
Raised across seven states as the son of a U.S. Marine before settling in Jacksonville, Florida, Holt’s musical foundation is rooted in a rich tapestry of influences. From his Uncle Henry’s gospel-infused mandolin to the guitar legends Duane Allman and Dickey Betts, to Lennon and McCartney’s songwriting brilliance, and the outlaw country sound of Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings—Ken’s music speaks to a life well-lived and deeply felt.
Ken Holt’s decades-long career began in the 1970s as the bassist for The Blend, a New England rock band signed to MCA Records that shared stages with The Who, ZZ Top, Hall & Oates, 38 Special, Foghat, and more.
When he’s not walking his dog or rehearsing in his home studio, Ken pours his heart into songwriting—aiming to create music that welcomes all, regardless of background or belief. His 20-year ministry in the Presbyterian Church has instilled in him a deep respect for inclusion, compassion, and shared humanity, values that echo through “I Did Not Know.”
