Emerging again from Texas-based band Keyodis comes a raw piece of metalcore. The band releases their latest piece of musical art, “Georgia’s Only Son.” Inspired by "Spinal Cord Perception," the cult novel by Josh Porter of Showbread, the track blends existential dread, horror, mental illness, and redemption into a crushing poetic experience.
Lyrically brutal and emotionally exposed, “Georgia’s Only Son” tells the story of a man haunted by unseen forces—both external and within—against the backdrop of a decaying town and his own fractured psyche. With vivid imagery like “blacked-out windows / treacherous visions / unfaithfulness flows from this world,” the song invites listeners into a deeply cinematic experience—one that’s both terrifying and transcendent.
“Our music is a push against the safe, polished expectations of modern Christian music,” the band shares. “We’re here to tear down the boundaries—musically, lyrically, and artistically. ‘Georgia’s Only Son’ is part of that mission. It tells a hard story, one that’s uncomfortable and honest. This is faith drenched in blood, grit, dirt, and honest truth. If we’re not making you think, we’re not doing it right.”
Keyodis draws from the chaos of Darko US, The Chariot, Norma Jean, and the theatrical, emotionally-charged storytelling of Showbread, but brings it into a new realm—one that speaks directly to fans of both Christian metalcore and the mainstream underground, refusing to compromise the tension between despair and deliverance.
The closing lines ring like a benediction from the void:
“The pain in my spine, it doesn't matter where it goes, I'll be just fine / I'm filled with the love in my heart / I see through the window now.”
Set to drop on Friday, June 13th, a date soaked in horror lore, “Georgia’s Only Son” is a spiritual and sonic exorcism—calling out to anyone who's been stuck in the dark and is desperate for something real.
