Grace Graber’s latest purposeful punk single “Run” is a call to action five years in the making. The song is streaming everywhere at https://slinky.to/RUN and going for radio adds now.
“I wrote it like five years ago back in 2020 when I first got a glimpse that music might actually happen for me,” the punk singer and songwriter recalls. “I thought to myself, if I ever am able to do Christian rock, this is the song that I want to do.”
Grace wrote the song through a season of running at home on the West Coast just before her life-changing move to Nashville, which would lead her into award-winning Christian pop before she found herself at home in the more guitar-rooted punk that raised her. Because it was such a nostalgic piece for her, she knew she would have to complete it with childhood friend and producer Brandon Moser.
The stars finally aligned for the song to be recorded— now as both a retrospective into the race Grace has run, and as a call forward into whatever lies ahead. The lyrics are vulnerable, accompanied by a raw music video that does what Grace does best: bare her soul in order to invite others into solidarity.
“The Lord breathing life into my dream of doing music was extremely humbling,” Grace shares, reflecting on half a decade of growing as a musician, a mental health advocate, and a follower of Christ. “It’s been like I met God all over again, like I first did as a teenager. And every time I go on a chase and try to get closer to the Lord, I feel this new fresh awakening. It’s like, ‘Wow, I didn't know this kind of life was possible.’”
That’s the invitation in “Run:” if you feel like you’ve hit a dead end, you can trust that God will still direct your steps if you keep moving.
The songwriter concludes, “I think that's the cool thing about our walk with God: it never looks the same in any season. There’s always a fresh awakening waiting for us when we fully surrender to whatever ways He wants to show us who He is in that moment.”
“Run” is streaming now and going for adds at rock radio in advance of more tour dates for Grace this fall, following successful appearances supporting Seventh Day Slumber in the spring and on festival dates this summer. You can get to know Grace better at https://linktr.ee/gracegrabermusic.
