Burial Extraction is back with an explosive new EP of songs. “Rotting Flesh” is a collection of blazing fast guitars, pummeling drums, and devastating bass, all performed with surgical precision. Leading the shockwave of death metal destruction are the guttural vocals of front man Brian Lyda. It all comes together to create an absolutely crushing EP that is sure to leave you with a sore neck from all the windmilling you’re sure to do.

The EP kicks off with “Blood-Soaked Robe,” which opens with a massive-sounding guitar riff and takes off at breakneck speeds. The intro of track two, “Pestilence,” showcases the massive drum and bass tone present throughout. From there, the song has a killer groove that is sure to get the crowd banging their heads. The title track, “Rotting Flesh,” is a blisteringly fast track featuring dark melodies and a hammering chorus. Track four was the lead single, “The Overseer.” This song features a scorching guitar solo. Finally, the release closes with “Where Creatures Dwell.” Last songs are always challenging because you’ve taken your listener on a journey through the EP or album and now you have to leave them on a high note. “Where Creatures Dwell” does just that. The technical prowess of Burial Extraction is on full display throughout this track. The song ends leaving you satisfied, but also NEEDING more.

If you are a fan of old-school death metal in the vein of Obituary or early Mortification, you have to follow Burial Extraction. This EP follows their 2023 debut “A Shadow of Things To Come”, and 2024’s “Expelled”, so you’ll have more to listen to once you’ve finished.
