My Place Was Taken, from the Mexican border town of Matamoros, announced their alliance with Rottweiler Records in May, with the release of the ‘Altar De Moloc’ single – a thunderous exposition of deathcore menace and might. Now they deliver the even heavier follow up – ‘Rude Awakening’. A nerve shredding intro gives way to an incredibly heavy riff; measured, paced and deliberate, gradually growing in force and momentum. The sheer weight is intimidating and the vocal presence immense, the song driven forward by muscle, blood and unwavering belief. In early 2024 Amarillo, Texas finest metalcore export, The Light Superior, released the stunning ‘Tidal Wave’ single, which won the hearts of fans everywhere with its magnificent melodies and stark emotional power. This Halloween they present the aptly entitled ‘Ghost’ and this colossal track is set to be another triumph for the band. Tumbling riffs and staggered rhythms carry a momentous, roaring vocal line upon their shoulders before The Light Superior’s patented magnificent, melodic chorus arrives. It’s the perfect contrast to those punishing opening riffs and proves instantly addictive. The superb song writing skills that made ‘Tidal Wave’ so special are back in full effect on ‘Ghost’.
