PLANO, Texas (October 30, 2025) — Platinum-certified, GRAMMY-nominated artist and songwriter Anne Wilson shares how trust in the Lord helped her overcome grief and anxiety and discover her God-given calling in a new White Chair film released today from the global storytelling ministry, I Am Second.

One of contemporary Christian music’s most dynamic trailblazers according to People, Wilson has amassed more than 2 billion career streams and earned GRAMMY and CMT Music Award nominations along with multiple Dove Award wins. She just released her highly anticipated third studio album on October 17, STARS, and her debut devotional Hey Girl: You Are Seen, Loved, And Made for More, via K-LOVE Books.

Yet, despite her success and accolades, Wilson’s career began with tragedy.

On June 7, 2017, Wilson’s life was changed when her older brother Jacob passed away. A split second after finding out he had died, she said she heard the voice of the Lord for the first time asking her if she was going to trust in Him or not.

“I made a conscious decision in that moment to trust the Lord,” Wilson said. “In that exact same moment, I felt this peace like I’ve never experienced since then.”

It wasn’t until her brother’s funeral that Wilson realized it was her calling to share the Gospel through music. She sang for the first time in front of anyone and again heard the Lord’s voice, telling her to praise and worship His name. Wilson posted a YouTube video of the song she performed at the funeral, which went viral and connected her with her first manager.

Wilson debuted her first single, “My Jesus,” in 2021 at age 19. The song reached 9 million views in 12 hours, a feat which Wilson found overwhelming. She found herself facing extreme depression and panic attacks following her breakout hit. Over the next year, she discovered help in the vulnerability of counseling, therapy and speaking with friends and family, which reminded her to keep God above all else. Despite the perfectionism and pressure, Wilson feels performing and trusting God has kept her grounded.

Her story, told candidly in the new I Am Second film, reflects a recurring theme of trust through pain; a truth Wilson continues to live out today. One of the hardest things Wilson wrestled with is the fact that she wouldn’t be where she is today if her brother hadn’t passed away.

“It’s a really bittersweet thing to sit in those moments and to hold the joy of what God has done, with also the grief that I’d literally give all of this back in five seconds to have my brother back,” Wilson said.

Despite her trials and struggles, Wilson emphasized how she wants the Lord to use her life.

“I want to allow the Lord to use my life and do something with it,” Wilson said. “That’s the coolest part of all this is learning to be okay with the Lord’s plans over my own. Knowing that He is a God who gives and takes away but blessed be the name of the Lord.”
