Legendary songwriter, Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame inductee and Journey band member Jonathan Cain releases his Only A Prayer Away EP available now from The Fuel Music through https://slinky.to/OnlyAPrayerAway. Whether it was going to Chimney Rock, NC for Hurricane Helene disaster relief, South Korea for “Peace On The Peninsula” talks or attending the National Day of Prayer in Washington, DC, all six of the new songs on the EP are Cain’s musical response to faith in action. The EP, which features Cain’s trademark piano playing, is the first new set of solo songs from him to release in nearly four years.

The initial inspiration and first song written for the EP came following Cain’s trip to Chimney Rock, NC while CityServe International was working to help clean up the mud following devastating floods.

“I go there in a helicopter, and I meet all these people who are so intent on getting their town back after losing everything. Everything they own is down the river, but with the mind of Christ, they are all working together to try to get their little town dug out. I was so moved. I'd never seen anything like this in my life.

“So I'm in the helicopter, flying out after witnessing this whole thing and start writing this lyric,” continues Cain. “By the time I land, ‘Amen To The Rescue’ is finished.”

Along with “Amen To The Rescue,” the EP features lead single and title track from the recording that was inspired by well-known pastor, author and founder of Harvest Crusades, Greg Laurie. Cain wrote the song after seeing a short film featuring Laurie sharing the Gospel and proclaiming that “God is only a prayer away.”

The EP also features “Imagine Peace,” a song Cain wrote and performed for 40 leaders attending the “Peace On The Peninsula” world conference that took place in Seoul Korea, and “‘I Will Praise You Home,” which was inspired by Dr. Pamela Pyle’s book, Anticipating Heaven.

Produced by Cain and mixed by David Kalmusky, Only A Prayer Away was recorded at Addiction Sound Studios in Nashville. The full EP tracklisting follows:

In addition to his solo music, Cain and his band, Journey, are set to launch an extensive, 60-city “Final Frontier Tour 2026” that begins tomorrow (Feb. 28) in Hershey, PA and runs through July 2 in Laredo, TX. Earlier this month, Cain joined his wife, Paula, for her Unleashed Conference that was livestreamed to 198 countries via Paula White Ministries.

A Chicago native, Cain has spent decades pouring out his musical gifts in front of huge audiences. During his next two tours with Journey that extend into 2027, Cain will share his heartfelt farewell to Journey fans before moving into fulltime ministry alongside his wife.
