NASHVILLE, Tenn.—Award-winning Residence Music singer/songwriter Justin Gambino returns with “Let Me Not Forget,” a moving contemplation of Jesus’ ultimate sacrifice on the cross. Now available on streaming platforms, the reflective piano/strings ballad was produced by Walter Halliwell and penned by Gambino, Halliwell and Tony Wood.
Arriving on the cusp of Holy Week, “Let Me Not Forget” bears the hallmarks of a timeless hymn—an immediately resonant melody that elevates impassioned, Truth-filled lyrics: “Let me not forget that day so dark/Let me not forget Your open arms/Should I not remember how Love would reach so far/Let me not forget Your scars.”
“The song was written and a demo was recorded in less than four hours, and we all knew we had something very special,” Gambino recalls. “With the production, I didn’t want the listener to have to work to understand the lyrics—it’s a song that asks for breath. Every detail that went into creating ‘Let Me Not Forget’ was intentional, and I believe was Holy Spirit inspired.”
The debut single from Gambino’s first-ever worship set, Garden of the Lord—slated for release later this spring—“Let Me Not Forget” compels conviction and extends hope. “The mind is the devil’s playground and if we allow it, what we will remember throughout the day is what someone else did to us; the gossip or rumors told about us or others; the grief we’re going through; the fear, doubt and anxiety that keep knocking on the doors of our minds,” Gambino explains. “But if we choose to focus on Jesus and His scars, all those things have no other place but beneath the peace that comes from remembering the price that was paid on Calvary.”
ABOUT JUSTIN GAMBINO
Since 2015, acclaimed Texas-based singer/songwriter Justin Gambino has cultivated an enthusiastic following across the United States and around the world with his charismatic live performances and hope-filled anthems. With two EPs, two full-length recordings, and numerous cinematic music videos to his credit, Gambino’s signature songs include "Just Like Jesus," “Courage,” “Fighting On My Behalf,” and “Anchored.” In 2024, he was named Artist of the Year Christian/Gospel/Inspirational
Gambino’s prodigal journey is an overarching theme in his music and ministry. A rebellious teen, he was arrested for theft at the age of 18. Opting for military enlistment and community service in lieu of incarceration, he spent eight years in the US Navy. While serving in Iraq, Gambino was asked to lead worship on base, rekindling a love for music he first embraced as a child. Battling PTSD and anger issues following his military service, Gambino turned to alcohol and spiraled into depression and despair. One night, on the floor of his apartment, he cried out to God for help and a new journey of redemption, hope and purpose began. Coming full circle, Gambino now holds the Brazoria County Revival each year on the steps of the Texas courthouse where he was sentenced as a teen.
