Legendary guitar slinger/singer/songwriter/producer/visual artist Dave Perkins is back with a Kickstarter campaign to fund his 6th roots-rock solo album, Powderhead. However, due to serious, unforeseen health issues, Dave's been unable to promote the Kickstarter for the new record the way he had envisioned when we started on this journey. Please keep him in prayer that God gives him the strength to fight this daunting fight.
There are only a few days left in the Kickstarter campaign (it ends Tuesday, July 7th) and they are still far from the goal. If they don't reach the goal, they will lose everything and it all just goes away. Click on the link and watch the intro video. It explains in great detail the vision behind this fantastic record and you can hear many of the songs during the video. It's a very literate album and the stories have been developing for many years. It's time to tell the tales.
While Dave may be unable to help beat the drum while he deals with his health, he has good friends who have stepped up to help him get the word out.
Dear friend and bandmate in Chagall Guevara, the irrepressible Steve Taylor says this:
How's your summer? Mine's got a new soundtrack. And yes, I'm able to be 100% objective here: Dave Perkins has made five previous albums, and I liked 'em all but this one is his masterpiece.
It's titled Powderhead, it combines Dave's Southern Gothic obsessions with his most accomplished songwriting to date, and his vocals have never been more expressive and soulful. My first listen was out of a sense of duty. But all the repeat listens since have been as a true fan.
Good buddy and stellar songwriter Pierce Pettis says this:
"Dave Perkins absolutely nails it with this release! Powderhead is an outstanding album. Great minimalist production gives these powerful songs room to breathe, and Dave's raw, chainsaw vocals are the perfect driving force to carry them.
As a lifelong fan of Flannery O'Connor -- not to mention bands like Drivin' and Cryin', Drive-by Truckers and of course the great Mark Heard, this album definitely strikes a nerve with me. Well worth checking out."
Dave thanks them for their kind words. I know you feel the same. Please help us get this thing over the finish line.
Dave and Sue thank you all for your prayers and kind support. Have a blessed 4th of July.
