FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- Pop punk outfit Sam's The Hero is inviting listeners to hold onto hope through life's difficulties with "In the Absence of Applause," a compelling new single out to streaming (Spotify and Apple) and going for radio adds on July 24. The song is the first taste of a forthcoming new album, due out in 2027.

"This is one of our favorite songs that we've written and also one of the most personal," the band confesses. "The unfortunate truth is that in this life we will all go through difficult times. It is inescapable. We want this song to be a humble encouragement to others to hold on to hope. To cling to it. And to choose to believe that even through the darkest night, the sun will rise. And when it does, its light is -- to quote Brave Saint Saturn -- beautiful."

The Brave Saint Saturn reference is appropriate for a band that continues to carry the torch for seminal musicians like Reece Roper (Five Iron Frenzy). The grassroots act has gathered the same cult following around their native Virginia Beach with projects including their 2024 EP Charlie Cox. The band is fresh off a set at Audiofeed, a festival that has largely taken up the banner for faith-based alt rock music.

"In The Absence of Applause" is the four-piece band's latest entry in thought-provoking, playful punk rock. But this song proves the band's emotional heft, offering encouragement to the many who are going through a dark night of the soul.

From waiting, from pain, from weakness, and lack of confidence

And I'm fighting off disappointment, cause I know you have shown me

That in the absence of applause lies the measure of my faith

For many listeners beyond Virginia and the Audiofeed community, this will be their first introduction to Sam's The Hero, although the band has been around since the heyday of Warped Tour (which they played locally). Released through independent punk label Small Step Records, "In The Absence Of Applause" is the next big step forward for the band as they rebuild their momentum in this strong second act.
