Take It Back!
Can't Fight Robots

Artist Info: Discography
Album length: 12 tracks: 44 minutes, 20 seconds
Street Date: June 24, 2008

Take It Back! is a young screamo/punk band hailing from Western Arkansas. Their debut album, titled Can't Fight Robots, is delivered courtesy of Facedown Records (xDEATHSTARx, War of Ages) and sends a wonderful message for today's youth about which direction to take in life.

The album starts off with "Standing on the Edge of Hope" which nicely displays what is to come in the following forty-five minutes: the throat wrenching screams of vocalist Zack McKim and a punk style laced with very hard guitar riffs and a simply amazing drummer. "Times Have Changed," "All That Keeps Us Stronger," and "Time Waits For No Man" all set fourth an anthem style sound about changing our lives or "start something good forever," as the chant goes. With all members of the band yelling the chorus, it's hard not to follow suit. "Act Your Age, Not Your Shoe Size" is about being who you claim that you are, while "A New Day" truthfully tells listeners that tomorrow will bring another day to make the right choices.

The band doesn't stray too far away from their style musically as the album progresses, but "A Struggle to Stay Standing" shows the bands depth lyrically. By far the hardest song on the album, it tells the tale of a person who has lived the hard life and is looking for answers or a rescuer, then realizing that one day they will find rest and be rescued. That being said, the band does not bring anything new or unique to the ear. The intensity flows throughout the entire album, which may be a sign of how the band felt at the time or simply a lack of diversity. Only the future will tell.

All in all, this is a simple yet good start for a band. The sound quality is not always crisp, and the next song may sound just like the one before it, but Take It Back! is very clear about the fact that their music is made to fulfill the Great Commission. The harder, more screamo punk style is likely to catch the attention of fans of the genre and they'll have a good following very soon - the future looks bright for the boys trying to fight their robotic nemeses.
