Day Of Fire
Day Of Fire

Artist Info: Discography
Album length: 11 tracks: 36 minutes, 10 seconds
Street Date: October 26, 2004

Out of a sea of rock acts emerges Essential Records' Day of Fire. Founded by former drug addict Joshua Brown, Day of Fire delivers rock music with God-centered lyrics. The former lead singer of secular band Full Devil Jacket, Brown decided to take his musical talent and use it for God. The lyrics on Day of Fire's album reflect Brown's journey from darkness into light.

Day of Fire sounds like a mix between Jonah33, Seventh Day Slumber and Kutless, and their album contains little originality. However, the quality of their music rivals their secular and Christian counterparts. Unlike some Christian rock bands, Day of Fire is not in the least ambiguous about their faith. Their songs contain obvious messages of hope in Christ and God's grace without being trite. For anyone who has ever struggled with their faith, the album is encouraging and contains straight-forward messages, especially on songs like "Fade" and "I am the Door." "Rain Song" is a passionate cry for God to bring revival to his people, and is easily one of the best songs on the album. The explosive rock song, "To Fly," brings the album to a strong close.

Although their album contains little diversity and is very similar to those by other rock artists, it is hard not to like Day of Fire. Their album is well-produced and is reminiscent of the 90s grunge rock era. For rock fans, it is definitely worth purchasing.

Day of Fire's self-titled album is a strong debut that is sure to perk some ears, but it remains to be seen whether or not the band has staying power.
