I love Temptation Come My Way much for the same reasons that I love Maylene and the Sons of Disaster's IV. It's southern flavored hard rock at its finest. I found A Chorus of Obliteration to be a band trying too hard to be a particular thing, but TCMW just felt right. It felt like The Showdown being themselves. Many of their fans view this as their worst record, but for me, it's the only one I keep coming back to after all these years. This is one of my favorite southern metal/hard rock albums released and ranks right up there with Black Stone Cherry's excellent debut. Known for being a Solid State band, you'd almost forget The Showdown actually started on Mono vs Stereo. I'm thrilled that this album made the cut and is being recognized in this 25-year celebration. I'd encourage you to give it another shot if you skipped it years ago; hopefully you'll hear something new.
