#13. Remedy Drive
Commodity
Release Date: September, 2014
 |
Remedy Drive parted ways with their record label to set out and record a risky project: a concept album to raise awareness about and combat human trafficking. Commodity is bold, accessible and unique. Expect the Remedy Drive from their original indie days with a maturity with some things they've learned during their signed years. This is easily a highlight of the year.

Concept albums are always a touchy subject; delusions of grandeur can easily plague their development, and record labels are beyond wary of them. In the case of Remedy Drive's Commodity, an album detailing the horrors and redemptions of human trafficking, the band was so certain of it that they decided to go independent (again) in order to see their dream come to fruition.

You may not think you know Remedy Drive, but you probably do. After breaking through with their major label debut in 2008, they released a number of favorably reviewed follow-ups that gained a high level of radio play. So you've probably heard them somewhere, even if you don't know it. And while it's strange to say 'they're back' about a band that never really left, a return to the independence of their first 10 years promises a new beginning and an exciting future.
