#6. Lacey Sturm
Life Screams
Release Date: February 12, 2016

Lacey had good reasons for walking away from Flyleaf, but her former band has struggled in trying to find a new identity without her. It's nice to have Lacey back and making music again. Expect a deeply personal and moving album from her this time around. On top of that, we could be looking at the year's top rock album.

While Flyleaf's self-titled debut instantly put them on the map (man, even their "I'm So Sick" music video was IN the fourth Die Hard movie), Memento Mori is what made me a fan. And ever since Lacey left Flyleaf--taking their sound and the heart of the band with her--I've been itching to hear more from her.

I simply loved the Flyleaf that was led by Lacey Sturm, so that alone makes me uber stoked to see what this solo release will be like.

The sheer possibilities of what Sturm's first solo album may hold overwhelm me. We obviously know what she is capable of as a rocker, and she's given hints of some quality contemporary the past few years. While Plumb and Rebecca St. James have set a high standard of versatile female artists in CCM in the past, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Sturm surpasses the achievements of both.

I have been hoping for a solo record from Lacey since she began writing and playing new songs at various shows. When she finally announced Life Screams, I could not have had a bigger smile on my face. The first single, "Impossible," has only heightened my anticipation.
