It’s funny how one song can turn your feelings around about an album or an artist entirely. Twenty One Pilots’ quirky and unique sound didn’t connect with me right away -- it took a well-timed moment of hearing “Stressed Out” playing over an amusement park’s speakers to pique my interest. Months later, I finally gave Blurryface a chance and found myself really enjoying the record. The two new cuts recently released sound a bit like business as usual (Whoever imagined singing about jumpsuits, the way they have, would ever work for a single? However, surprisingly it does), but I’m sure Trench as a whole will be full of surprises, twists and turns like this dynamic duo is known for.

Twenty One Pilots is a band that has had my attention since first hearing the strains of “Car Radio” from their Vessels album. I have a great appreciation for the scale of their artistry, which encompasses so much more than songs. “Jumpsuit,” the recently released single, has quickly become a favorite, and has me at almost fanboy levels of excitement for the upcoming album, Trench.

Blurryface took awhile for me to really "get," but when I did, I came to see what an interesting amalgamation of sounds and stories was there. New single “Jumpsuit” is an interesting, catchy tune that (possibly) has a built in spiritual metaphor about the Holy Spirit, and a really interesting video to boot. The creativity of the Pilots is unmatched in the current pop music marketplace.

There guys are the culmination of what every modern Christian band hopes to be - a massive critical and commercial success who neither need to flaunt the religiosity of their music (which is actually pretty blatant) or sacrifice their faith in the name of success. For the most part, their music speaks for itself, and it continues to do so even after you’ve heard all their songs for the umpteenth time.
