Call it coincidence, to end up like this, forgotten, lifeless
Contrary to belief whispered in your ear
A modern parable, with many talents, too much to balance
It’s crazy all that can happen in a year
Is this all you could ask for and so much more?
Or did you find that the hands of time don’t work like they did before?
This once-lit torch is now a dying ember
The man that’s left is not the one I remember
You lost control after you let your mind roam
I’m counting down the clock until you come home
Call it clockwork; it all seemed to line up in a straight fashion
Akin to this machine with its moving parts
Gears that turn, the pendulum swings, and you’re left with what chaos brings
Regret is always present when the mayhem starts
