Give me one more chance tonight to keep you waiting for nothing
and make you stay here in this place where you are only what they say you are
You can save the lie, we are the ones who’ve seen the other side
Say our own goodbyes, leaving the world and all our cares behind
Give me one more chance today to keep you sitting in one place
Riding on the fence you’ve made, you’re only partly dying this way
Am I keeping you from life?
Or am I keeping you alive?
Behind the Song:"So many situations can hold us down. So many scenarios can inhibit our growth as people, or our growth as Christians. And most importantly, sometimes we look at God as holding us back from things we want or places we want to be subconsciously. When circumstances you have put yourself in keep you down, run from them. When you wish you were somewhere you shouldn’t be, and God’s way seems frustratingly acceptable, wake up and realize how deceptive your mind can be, and how good God really is. This song begs the question from God’s standpoint, “Am I keeping you from life? Or am I keeping you alive?” When I am faced with temptation to be somewhere I should not be, I often times begrudgingly accept God’s way. This is stupid. I have tasted and seen life, and yet I want death. God, help me to say goodbye to the past and praise you for pulling me up out of the mire. Help me to leave behind the things that hold me down, whether they be sinful, or just comfortable. Help me to realize that every second I have on earth, you give to me." - Justin Anderson (
