The lyrics in Wande’s new single, “They Didn’t Know II,” celebrates young, bold, and unashamed Christians and talks through personal challenges she experienced early in her faith. “Many people don’t know how powerful making a choice to follow God is,” shares Wande. “Choosing Christianity at a young age changed my life and music for the better. I’ve discovered that when God fights for you, you move different!”
For Wande, moving differently also means creating her lane! The first and only female artist signed to Reach Records, Wande is leveraging her career to usher a new sound into Christian music while pushing the boundaries for pioneering women of faith! “Being on the only female artist on Reach Records and a woman in the male-dominated Christian Hip-Hop genre is not a hindrance, but rather a way to empower more women to be bold and go after their goals,” shares Wande.
Despite the global COVID-19 pandemic, she’s had a successful year. Her single “Woo” was featured in the viral marketing campaign for Apple’s iPhone 12 mini which garnered over 4 Billon views on Tik-Tok. Another song, “Come My Way,” was also featured in ULTA’s SoundCloud campaign. Cultivating a relationship with the cosmetic industry leader is important for Wande who exploring starting a new cosmetic line of her own. Additionally, her music streamed in the WNBA’s 2020 Draft promotion, Lena Waithe’s BET Production “Twenties,” and her song “Be the Light” was also ESPN’s Music of the Month feature.
From city to city on Reach Records’ “We Are UNASHAMED Tour, Wande is holding it down for the ladies while repping for the new 116! In “They Didn’t Know II,” lyrics, she rhymes, “They be thinking I’m crazy, but look what He did. I gave Him my life He changed how I live. So yeah, I’m unashamed Romans 1:16…Saved me at a young age started from the teens, now my real-life way better than my dreams.”
When you’re on your faith journey, especially when you’re young, it’s hard for people who aren’t on it with you to understand the transformation you’re experiencing. Still, one day, you’ll be able to say like Wande, “This is who I am,’ I am not going to apologize about being unashamed to follow Jesus. Most likely “they didn’t know.” Stream “They Didn't Know II” now everywhere here.
About Wande
Wande (birthname Mutiat Yewande Isola) was born in Nigeria to a Muslim father and Christian mother and raised in Texas. Her first name Mutiat means “devout Muslim,” however she goes by Wande for short. Growing up, the church was a weekend activity with her mom, but at some point, she went through a phase where she wanted to figure out who God was. She came into her Christian faith early in her teens and called conversion one of the most transformative decisions in her life.
