Former All Sons & Daughters member Leslie Jordan has been releasing solo music independently and just dropped a brand new EP of b-sides, titled Memos.
About the EP, Jordan writes:
“Memos,” an EP of four unreleased work tapes from The Agonist archives is available today for purchase and download, ONLY on Bandcamp!
When I wrote songs for “The Agonist,” I left no stone unturned. I explored every piece of my grandfather’s poetry that I had access to, gathered those with the most formed stories and began to turn them into songs. Before I knew it, I had written 20 songs for this record, which is just a few too many songs. So, naturally some got left in the dropbox folder as acoustic demos.
I revisited the dropbox folder last month on a long drive and found several songs I still love, even though they didn’t carve out a place on the album. They are the first takes of vocal and guitar tracks I did at home, meant to be a guide map for how I’d approach the song in the studio. They are simple with plenty of mistakes (or character!), but I still feel the magic when I hear them. I had my friend Latifah Alattas mix & master them so that you’re hearing the best quality demo possible. I have titled the EP “Memos” because my grandfather wrote a lot on Mead memo pads.
Today is Bandcamp Friday which means that every dollar spent goes directly to the artist - no fees taken! I’ve also added “The Agonist” album to Bandcamp with the bonus track, “Suzy Rain”along with the album artwork available to download. I’m so grateful for your support this year. It is hard to believe that a year ago I was gearing up to begin this album release! Time truly flies.
I’ve been back in the studio writing and working on new music. I cannot wait for what the future holds.
