God Remembers Your Work

"God is not unjust; He will not forget your work and the love you have shown Him as you have helped His people and continue to help them." - Hebrews 6:10 NIV

Godremembersyourwork

This promise from God was one of the very first I memorized 33 years ago, when I surrendered my life to the Lord for real, and began eagerly studying His Word. I had asked God to put me to work in His Kingdom, and I knew in my heart that it wouldn’t take long for Him to do that. As I labored for the Lord in caring for His saints in various ways, I was certain that I would need to remind myself that my work would always be rewarded somehow by a loving and just God.

One of the most interesting things about serving the Lord and His people is that His rewards are often unusual and unexpected. Many times, He will direct us to serve others in His name without us receiving any monetary rewards. In fact, my ministry efforts have almost always been on a volunteer basis. But I will tell you this – my husband, Joe, and I were in debt for almost all of the 50 years that we have been married. Both of us knew that if we didn’t have a miracle from God, we would most likely be in debt for the rest of our lives. But today, we are debt free, and no one can convince us that it wasn’t entirely by the grace of God. And I know in my heart that if I hadn’t been faithful in serving the Lord all these years – even without pay – Joe and I would still be struggling financially.

The Passion Translation of Hebrews 6:10 says: “God, the Faithful One, is not unfair. How can He forget the work you have done for Him? He remembers the love you demonstrate as you continually serve His beloved ones for the glory of His name.” When the Lord gives you a job to do, and you have no real desire to do it, that’s the time to decide to do it for HIM. You can’t fool God. He knows when you don’t want to do something, so just confess it to Him, and ask Him to fill you with a desire to obey Him. And remind yourself that because the Lord is righteous and just, You will reap the rewards of your obedience. Today, I encourage you to memorize God’s promise in Hebrews 6:10. Keep it in your mind and in your heart, and declare it every time you doubt the Lord’s faithfulness. I promise that you won’t be disappointed!

Prayer: Lord, I ask that You put me to work in Your kingdom, knowing that You have prepared good works for me to do ahead of time. (Ephesians 2:10) Help me to stand firm, letting nothing move me from doing Your will, always giving myself fully to Your work, believing Your promise that my labor in the Lord is never in vain. (1 Corinthians 15:58) Thank You that as I refuse to become weary in doing good, I will reap a harvest of blessings at the proper time IF I don’t give up! (Galatians 6:9)
