When my husband, Joe, developed some alarming symptoms in his body, instead of panicking, I turned to the Lord for His guidance and wisdom in the matter. God showed me that the strategy He wanted us to use for this crisis was both practical and spiritual.

When the Lord showed me that Joe was to go to the hospital emergency room, he resisted the idea, so I insisted that he call his doctor. When his doctor told him to go to the ER immediately, he finally agreed that it was the right thing to do. The Lord showed me that before we left the house, I was to lay hands on my husband and pray for him. Then we were to take Communion and believe God for Joe's healing. At the hospital, doctors did lab work on my husband and took multiple images. Though some problems were found, all of Joe's symptoms totally disappeared, and he was sent home a few hours later. Thankfully, he's been fine ever since.

In walking with the Lord these past 30+ years, I have discovered that when trouble strikes, there is almost always a God-ordained solution that is both spiritual and practical. If either aspect is left out, the trouble can often get worse instead of better. The Bible says, "We have the Lord our God to help us and to fight our battles for us!" (2 Chronicles 32:8 NLT) When we look to the Lord for help, and trust Him to fight our battles for us, the outcome of our situation will be one of victory, instead of defeat.

As followers of Christ, we don't approach adversity the way that people without God do. When we experience an attack on our health, we don't just rely on doctors or medicines. No. We go to God and get His prescription for our illness or injury, knowing that doctors and medicines have no power against a spiritual attack. Scripture says, "Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God." (Psalm 20:7 NIV) I have met some Christians with a mindset that says, "Some trust in doctors and some in medicines…" And, often, the results are devastating.

Whatever you are facing today, I urge you to seek the Lord for His divine battle plan, knowing that your victory is guaranteed by God Himself!

Prayer: Lord, when I face adversity of any kind, help me to resist becoming fearful or doubtful. Teach me to turn to You first for Your divine strategy and plan, and show me what to do from a practical aspect, too. If I need to see a doctor, show me which one to see. Thank You that as I commit my problems to You, and trust in You wholeheartedly, You will fight my battles and win the victory for me every time!
