Confessions cover
06. Will You Be There
Album: Confessions
Artist: Pillar

Verse 1:
Tell me when it's over, never thought we'd be here
Moments passing by, I'm losing you
So much that I never knew
Couldn't bring it out of you
Caught up in the history
And won't let you go, go

Chorus:
When the sun comes up tomorrow
Will you be there, will you be there
And if I fade away tomorrow
Will you be there, or will you stay here

Verse 2:
Tell me it's not over, I can't see it anymore
All the love is passing by, I'm losing you
Of all the things I ever said
Never met so much regret
Hard to see the future
When the past is in the way, can we find a way

Repeat Chorus:

Bridge:
There is just one thing about you
It's I just can't live without you
So I'll just keep holding on
There is just one thing about you
It's I just can't live without you
So I'll just keep holding on

When the sun comes up tomorrow
Will you be there, will you be there

Behind the Song:
'Noah [Henson, Pillar's bassist] wrote the music and lyrics for the original chorus, and Rob Graves [producer] and I really liked it a lot. It's one of those songs that goes both ways in terms of perception. It definitely can be perceived as asking a loved one or spouse, 'Hey, I messed up--will you still be there for me?' But there's also a lot of this theme on the Confessions album of questioning God. If we're in the middle of life and we make a mistake, it's like, 'God, I know you said that you'll be there, and you'll forgive me, but I'm a human, and I can't fathom your forgiveness and your grace right now. Will you still really be there?' I know there are people out there that are hurting, and they think they've done something so bad that God just can't possibly be there for them anymore or that He was never there for them. The song started off there and it evolved into a very relationship driven song about mistakes and being committed to one another throughout life no matter what our shortcomings may be ... that 'for better or worse' type of song.'--Rob Beckley (Pillar)
