02. Come Find Me

We Once Were
by Rush Of Fools

In a world that can't seem to find what it needs
Give me faith in a place that my eyes have not seen

Whoooaaa, whooooaaa, whooaaaaa x2

Walk in to the room of my heart
Take hold of the pieces that are
So scattered like sheep gone astray
And if you ever leave the ninety-nine

Come find me
Come shine Your light in my dark
Come find me
Put consuming fire in my heart
In a world that can't seem to find what it needs
Give me faith in a place that my eyes have not seen

Whoooaaa, whooooaaa, whooaaaaa

Fallen since the day I began
Learning how to reach for Your hand
You're calling this sheep gone astray
And I pray You'll leave the ninety-nine

Come find me
Come shine Your light in my dark
Come find me
Put consuming fire in my heart
In a world that can't seem to find what it needs
Give me faith in a place that my eyes have not seen

Come find me
Come find me
In a world that can’t seem to find what it needs
Give me faith in a place that my eyes just can't

Whoooaaa, whooooaaa, whooaaaaa x2

Behind the Song:
"Jesus told great stories. One story (parable) speaks of a shepherd leaving the 99 sheep to save the one that is lost, and this teaches us that Jesus KNOWS even His lost sheep, that He ADORES His sheep, and that He GOES AFTER His sheep. In our take on this incredible story, we find ourselves being the sheep that seems to always go astray. There's something truly liberating about singing a confessional that highlights weakness, rather than strength. Even beyond a confessional, this comes across as a request, in a submission to the reality of our desperation. In this particular lyric, we recognize the inability to produce any good on our own accord, as the Bible teaches us in Romans 3. It is essential that God comes to shine light in the dark, to spark a fire within us, to initiate faith into our worldview. That's why the cry behind this song is begging God to come and do what only God can do. The anthemic feel drives us to sing this together, as if we all recognize, at least at some point on our journey, we're going to be that dumb lamb who wanders off without even knowing it. And when we do, He comes for us. He rescues us. He finds us." - Rush of Fools
