In 2006, Jaime Jamgochian released her first national album Reason To Live. Two years have passed since her debut and this 32 year old Boston native has decided to stir hearts once again with her sophomore release, Above The Noise.
The album opens up with the Michael Gungor classic "Giving It All," revealing Jaime's powerful vocal range and angelic voice, while "God Unchanging" showcases the unchangeable nature of our God. "Amaze Me" is a beautiful pop ballad with a simple yet personal message straight from Jaime's heart. "For You" is another chapter opened from Jaime's life, illustrating her passion and her statement of faith, whereas "Heal The Wound" is a cry toward God to heal us from the hurts of our mistakes but to remind us of our wonderful rescue ("Heal the wound but leave the scar, a reminder of how merciful You are").
The remaining tracks on the album have similar, repetitive messages as the others, which causes a lack of originality. With a little more creativity, Jamgochian's music can draw new crowds and listeners as well as carve a place of remembrance in CCM history. With that stated, Jaime's sophomore release is a letdown and hinders not only her true potential as a musician but also diversity from shining its true colors.
