The Procussions
…As Iron Sharpens Iron

Album length: 15 tracks: 64 minutes, 23 seconds
Street Date: 2003

The Procussions are a rap group comprised of three men that hail from Colorado. They play an old school style of rap that's kind of hard to swallow at first. But once you get used to it, it's definitely a bit easier to digest.

They experiment with various beats and effects that are original and enjoyable. Though ...As Iron Sharpens Iron sounds very old school, it is still, stylistically, very fresh, making for a very interesting listen.

…As Iron Sharpens Iron is for rap fans and rap fans only. If you don't like rap, this isn't going to change your mind about the genre at all. In fact, even those into rap might have a hard time enjoying this. But, as said, upon repeated listens, some tracks are very catchy and sure to become engraved in your mind.

But to anyone who would like to relive some late 80s/early 90s rap flavor, this is a must own… Sixty-four wonderful minutes of layered and textured rap. But others might find it mundane and repetitive.

It all comes down to musical preference. If you fit the rap lover description described above, make sure to check the Procussions out. To anyone else, it might just be worth it to give them a listen… this is, indeed, original rap. Probably not enough to keep your interest, but nevertheless an interesting listen.
