Caedmon's Call has been around for over ten years now. Ten years. Doesn't seem like that long, does it? That is, of course, counting their independent days. But these guys have been making music that has been making an impact for a long while. Now, to commemorate ten-plus years of music, Caedmon's Call releases Chronicles, a disc that's a mix of live favorites, greatest hits, as well as new recordings.
Chronicles 1992-2004 opens with the first of two new songs. "All My Life" is trademark Caedmon's Call that should make their many, many loyal fans happy, as well as tide them over until the release of their next project, Third World Symphony later this year.
From there, the disc sets off into sixteen more superb tracks that will take Caedmon's Call fans on a trip down memory lane. An extended version of "Thankful" is followed by a live version of one of the band's first hits, "Lead of Love." Really, it's hard to signify one or two particular tracks as highlights. This entire project is one 67 minute highlight, and it highlights the career so far of some of the hardest working and most artistic bands in Christian music.
The disc ends with the only other new song on the disc. "A New Day" is more signature Caedmon's Call and a fitting close to Chronicles. The song is powerful and creates much anticipation for the future of this decade old band.
Few bands really ever deserve a collection like this, but Caedmon's Call fits the requirements. This is a remarkable record that will please the dedicated fans that have helped in getting this band to where they are today.
