This is one of the most amazing records I have ever heard. If you are a fan of Living Sacrifice's work on Conceived in Fire, then I think you will like this album. You should be warned that Demon Hunter's self-titled debut is fairly dark. But the entire album is a hardcore gem. The vocalist Ryan Clark is amazing and manages to provide brutal, deep vocals while keeping the majority of the words understandable even without the aid of the insert.
Some of the best heavy songs are "Infected," "My Throat is an Open Grave," and "Turn Your Back and Run." The band makes a sucessful, at the very least, attempt to produce two slower, more emotional songs. I love them and find myself singing along every time they are on. I read a review elsewhere that criticized them as a try to emulate Staind and other bands, but I think these songs stand on their own and surpass any possible comparisons.
Let me close with this little story -- I was at a speech contest and let one of the guys on our team listen to it. As soon as he was done, I told him that it was a Christian band, and his jaw about fell off of his face. Anyone who likes any band on Solid State label should be able to fall in love with this awesome debut album.
