I always seem to get to review the groups that I've never really listened to, to review, but I like that so much because it gives me the opportunity to try out new music, and share it with friends!
In listening to five o'clock people I realized that there are so many groups out there that are worth listening to and this is one of them. Why don't I just tell you that the CD was good and let's leave it at that... Just kidding... I wouldn't leave you hanging like that!
My opinion about the CD was that in some songs they sound like the newest "Jars of Clay approach" to music, but with a quieter side, then in other songs they have this celtic blue grass thing going for them. The strings and percussion put a nice twist to the music and at times you just feel like closing your eyes.
My favorite songs were "Remain," "Living Water," "Sorry," "Blame," and "Now I Sing." In "Remain" the strings play a big part of the song. It's as if the voices and strings are chasing each other. "Living Water" has some very nice harmonizing in it and I really like the lyrics as well as the way it opens with strings and then percussion. "Now I Sing" has such a rhythm to this song. It's catchy and it had me singing to it.
The only problem that I had with this CD was that it could've used more bass, but five o'clock people have very simple voices that reach out. I sensed this in each and every song. So until next time... keep your flame burning bright so that it will penetrate the darkness.
