#83. Embodyment
The Narrow Scope of Things

Release Date: April 25, 2000

My introduction to Solid State Records (and the thing that showed me that heavy music can be enjoyable) was a compilation called This Is Solid State, Vol. 3. While this sampler featured heavy hits from Soul Embraced, Narcissus, and more, it also featured a seemingly out-of-place song from an indie rock band called Embodyment. While the chosen song, "Belly Up," was from their 2001 album, Hold Your Breath, it's The Narrow Scope of Things that really placed my attention on this band. Emotionally-charged with driving rhythms, Embodyment seemed to be a sorely underrated artist.
