Jesus you are mercy,Jesus you are justice
Jesus you are worthy that is what you are
you died alone to save me, your rose so you could raise me
you did this all to make me a chosen child of God
(How) Worthy is the Lamb that once was slain
To receive all glory power and praise
For with your blood you purchased us for God
Jesus you are worthy, that is what you are
perfect sacrifice crushed by God for us
bearing in your hurt all that i deserve
misjudged for my misdeeds you suffered silently
he only guiltless man in all of history

Behind the Song:"I've been privileged to have theologians help me out by checking my
songs and making sure they match the truth of scripture. Graham
Tomlin has answered countless niggling emails from me for this album
and before him Don Williams faced the same challenge. One of the
songs I sent Don was Jesus you are worthy. Inspired by the incredible
power of the words in Isaiah 53 and the scene described in
Revelations 5, it is a song about the pain and hurt Jesus suffered to
satisfy the righteous requirements of God's justice just to 'buy us back'
for God. The cross was simultaneously an incredible act of mercy but
also an amazing instance of God's justice come to earth. Sometimes
Don or Graham will write back with comments on the songs I send
them. Occasionally Don will say 'why don't you do this?' and I will work
on the lyrics until they reflect that truth. Very occasionally Don's
suggestion is made so well that there is no other or better way of
saying this truth. Upon reading 'you died alone to save me, you died
so you could raise me' Don asked me why don't I say 'You rose so
you could raise me' - something I've never sung before. A lyric that
describes the redemptive power not only of Jesus' death but also of
his rising again. Who could say it better than that? Not me! The music
was written on a three string guitar in Kosova." - Brenton Brown
