I know that You are here
And all I want to do is get closer to You
And just sit with You awhile
And live in this moment
Cause I don't love You for who they say You are
But for who You are to me
You are my peace
You are my hope
You are my life oh Lord
And there's no place else
I’d rather be
Than with You, I love You
Oh Lord
Now to the one with endless grace
Now to the one who died in my place
I want to sit with You awhile
And live in this moment
I don't love You for who they say You are
But for who You are to me
You are my peace
You are my hope
You are my life oh Lord
There's no place else I’d rather be
Than with You, I love You oh Lord
Behind the Song:"I remember starting to write the words to this song after a Sunday school lesson about Mary and Martha. I remember my teacher Miss Rita, inspiring us to FEEL what Mary felt. She acted out what Martha might say...."hurry up and help me, I'm cooking and I can't get to everything myself” But Mary, just stunned, dared not move and ruin the moment that she was having with Jesus, no matter what the moment cost her. So I tried to imagine what she would say, right in that moment, in the business around her, in the sheer delight of life making sense for maybe the first time. This song wasn't used in a worship setting until my junior year in high school, when I was a piano player and my best friend a singer for a small church group. I would teach her my songs and she would sing them, because I wasn't comfortable singing. Later the song hit the heart of the college age group Masters Commission and after they graduated, they brought the song home to their churches. I still hear it once in awhile, especially in youth groups, when I am out and about, and am always surprised as to how they know it, as this is the first recording of the song." - Sarah Kelly
