I never loved a hardcore album the way that I loved this one. It felt like church to me. Every song had a couple of lines that felt like they were beign spoken right to me. From "How dare I call this love and not bear my cross?" to "At My word would you bring your Isaac?" It hit me hard as a teenager. To this day, I still appreciate the honesty and vulnerability of the album, with its theme summed up in the words that close it out: "I like to think that this is love lost in second chances without end. This is romance." As Cities Burn's first album is all about love - and receiving it even when you think you don't deserve it.
