For our 7th annual Highlighting feature, we split the year into TWO pieces -- January to June and July to December. Normally, we select our top 25 most anticipated releases for the whole year, but we realize that it's tough to really gauge EVERYTHING that may release throughout a given year when we're making the list in January. So, for 2012, we split the year into TWO pieces -- January to June and July to December, and we're using this format again for 2013. Also, each list contains 15 artists/releases for a total of 30 in total for 2013.
PLEASE NOTE:
We've already selected the first fifteen artists, so please click here to check those out. If you think an artist may be missing on this list, please keep in mind they may have made our list for the first half of the year before their release date was pushed back to the latter half of the year (like Switchfoot, Five Iron Frenzy and Relient K, for example). Without further ado, we give you Highlighting Second-Half 2013!

#3. The Digital Age
Evening:Morning
Release Date: August 13, 2013
 |
I was already somewhat interested in the sequel to the disbanded David Crowder*Band. And then I heard the first single from The Digital Age, "Captured." Officially sold. I'm looking forward to hearing the next chapter of DC*B's legacy.

Though some of us around the JFH camp may or may not have advance review copies of The Digital Age's first real outing, and the feelings may or may not be a bit mixed, we're all sure about the bright future The Digital Age has...

Last year, The Digital Age put out a lovely little EP called Rehearsals, featuring a phenomenal cover of All Sons & Daughter's "All The Poor and Powerless," in the process proving that they were a band much more than merely the David Crowder*Band minus David Crowder*. This year, they aim to prove that fact even more with the release of their first full-length album.

One of the most experienced "new artists" in quite some time, The Digital Age has the potential to make a huge splash in this market. Their style of instrumentation is what sets them apart, and as long as Evening:Morning follows the pattern that Rehearsals set into motion (and from what I've heard of it thus far, it does), these guys will make it big in 2013.

The Dave Crowder*Band without Dave Crowder? That's an interesting proposition indeed. Early results are a bit mixed, but these guys are seasoned veterans and it will be interesting to see what the future (age) holds for these guys.
