#8. Rend Collective
As Family We Go
Release Date: August 21, 2015
 |
Rend Collective is one of those [few and far-between] bands that does Christian radio music, but also puts a unique spin on it. "Experimental" may be an overstatement, but at least they go the extra mile to make it more than another walk around the block. I'm looking forward to what they have in store for us, as it will be a refreshing sound for the radio and also an encouragement to believers.

I once was high on Rend Collective, but I've been slowly losing interest in them the past couple years. Their music is undoubtedly infectious, and at times excellent, but it seems pedestrian to me more often than I would prefer. Still, they have simultaneously made some of the most unique and accessible worship music in recent years, and I am excited to hear As Family We Go.

The Rend Collective have been on a rootsy, down-home (by way of Ireland) roll for the past few years, and a new album, one year after their last one, was a nice, unexpected surprise. Be sure to save this one for that end-of-summer road trip.

The infectiously optimistic Rend Collective is one of the most exciting worship bands around. They foster such a joyous worship atmosphere that you can't help but praise God at the top of your lungs along with them. I've had the chance to listen to As Family We Go a couple times already and my initial impression is very positive, but I'm not as captivated as I was with The Art of Celebration. More time with the album is definitely needed to make a more definitive critique though...
