Verse 1
They say I’ll never make it.
They say that I should just quit.
They say I’m doomed to a poor old life.
They say I’ll die in this town,
That my life won’t make a sound,
And though I’ve never questioned why…

Chorus 1
It’s YOUR Word against theirs.
They can hope and they can try
To oppress me, make me cry
But it’s YOUR Word against theirs!
They won’t set me at the top
But that does not mean I’ll stop
‘Cause it’s YOUR Word! YOUR Word against…

Verse 2
They say it scares them to death.
And GOD did not give them breath
Because they say HE cannot exist
I say, “Let GOD’s Word be true.” No matter what they may do
They’ll pay for their sins with interest.

Chorus 2
And it’s YOUR Word against theirs
Because try as they might
Their wrong doesn’t make it right
And it’s YOUR Word against theirs
Heaven waits for those who hold
Tight onto the Truth they’re told
And it’s…

Bridge
Blind men cannot see this Truth
They’ll search the world to prove their lies
They perjure themselves on the stand of life
And break necks to keep their binding ties

I may not find the rainbow fortune
I may not win the lottery
But I will not turn from the Truth I’ve learned
No matter what their debauchery!

Chorus 3
‘Cause it’s YOUR Word against theirs.
I will live to see them turn
From their wicked ways or burn
And it’s YOUR Word against theirs
Think they know what makes me tick
There’s a flaw in their logic
‘Cause it’s YOUR Word against theirs.
They can hope and they can try
To oppress me, make me cry
But it’s YOUR Word against theirs!
They won’t set me at the top
But that does not mean I’ll stop
And it’s YOUR Word against theirs
Because try as they might
Their wrong doesn’t make it right
And it’s YOUR Word against theirs
Heaven waits for those who hold
Tight onto the Truth they’re told
It’s YOUR Word against theirs
Men don’t live by bread alone
Zoe comes from sins atoned
It’s YOUR Word against theirs!
