I've heard tell tears spend the night but joy always comes in the morn
So I've been staying up through the night for a few years now waiting for the dawn
Tried my hand at the best I could. Things just went from bad to worse
No help was helpful. I wore out my eyes and wondered if my prayers were even heard

Don't gloat over me Enemy though I've fallen I will rise
Though I sit in darkness the Lord will be my light

I've heard tell that He works all things together for my good and His Glory
But it's hard to feel like I'm winning a war when I know about the battles lost in me
How my heart can harden and my flesh may fail. My efforts falling short in word and deed
Seems this old world's running straight to hell and it looks to me the devil's got the lead

I've heard tell that they laid him low. Spent three days down deep in the grave
Then on that morning when hope was gone He rose up from the earth mighty to save
Now He's alive this very day so no matter how dark things can seem to be
He goes before me. He goes behind. The Mighty King before me at the lead
