When I was 9 years old
I read My Side of the Mountain
Wanted a peregrine falcon
Maybe move out to the woods
Frightful of the rapture
Just hoped it waited until after
I remember feeling evil
For not wanting to leave

I remember turning to dad in the car
Taking off the garbage
I think I have found a way
I can keep Jesus from coming back
You see if no one can know when
I'll always expect him
So I can grow up or at least get a girlfriend
Maybe learn how to drive or go off to college
Or whatever else, I am just getting started
Whatever else, I am just getting started
I can't recall what he said I think that he just nodded
