I carried a bible
To every class
Those middle school miles
Smothered in Axe
I kept it on the outside
Of a several book stack
Under my arm
To every class

I don't remember why
Don't think it was to read
I don't remember why
But it became my thing

I used to bleach my hair then
But not all the way
Mostly a frost kit
But one time the bangs
I used to bleach my hair then
But I wasn't aware
Of the perilous slope
That bleached a cross in my hair

I don't remember why
It was Daniel's idea
But it became my thing
For several months of several years
I don't remember why
But I knew it then
I don't remember why
But I knew it then
I don't remember why
But I knew it then
And though it makes me cringe
I still love that kid
